[ARRL-ODV:9166] Re: Division and Section emails

Jim, I'm not sure what you mean by "new" members. Effective now, someone signing up for Members-only access for the first time will have the box for receiving "News and information from your Division Director and Section Manager" checked for them. They will have to uncheck it in order not to receive these kinds of messages. We will not be sending them anything inviting them to uncheck it. As for members already signed up for Members-only, some of them would regard it as a breach of trust on our part if we were to change the privacy policy, without telling them, in a way that affects what reaches their inboxes. 73, Dave K1ZZ -----Original Message----- From: Weaver, Jim K8JE (DIR, GL) Sent: Thursday, July 24, 2003 4:48 PM To: arrl-odv Subject: [ARRL-ODV:9144] Re: Division and Section emails Ladies and gentlemen: As I mentioned earlier today to Mark, I thought the directors preferred we not send an opt-out notice to "new" members to the DIR/SM E-mail lists BEFORE they have seen what we send them and know from what they are opting-out. If I am correct, now seems to be the time to say so before these "new" ones are "invited" to opt out from something for which we have just opted them in. I realize this aspect of our discussion was not included in the motion, but it part of the "legislative history" as I remember it. For this matter, I don't recall that the motion mandated Mark and company to send a special opt-out invitation. Am I correct or did someone put a hallucinogen in my Diet Pepsi?
