[arrl-odv:23973] ARRL website

FYI: The website is currently down. The IT staff is working on fixing it. Dave K1ZZ

The website is back up. The problem is traffic related: some legitimate, some not. Dave

Dave Does the "some not" stand as code for the ARRL's servers are again under attack? If it does, the fact we are again under attack should be disclosed to the Board. If we are not under attack, please exlain what "some not" really signifies. 73 *-----------------------------------------------------* ** John Robert Stratton N5AUS Office telephone: 512-445-6262 Cell: 512-426-2028 PO Box 2232 Austin, Texas 78768-2232 *-----------------------------------------------------* On 2/17/15 12:35 PM, Sumner, Dave, K1ZZ wrote:

John, what it signifies is that it is what I was told by the IT folks, who are still looking into it. Further to this, from Barry and the IT staff: Yesterday's event was a series of attempts to probe our web server. They were repelled but the sheer number overwhelmed the cloud servers. The probes were coming from anonymous IP addresses and servers. We blocked them and they started up from other sources. Their scanning failed because we are not susceptible to the attack that they were trying. There were still probes this morning but they were significantly reduced. Today's outage was mostly because of heavy legitimate traffic. Rebooting the cloud servers has taken care of it for now.
