Re: [ARRL-ODV:7227] Regarding the A&F Committee Meeting Minutes

Hi All: On this SM issue and Section News, my SM's have not changed their position. Each are still strongly against the removal of Section News from QST. One recently wrote another "scorcher" to the SM reflector. Another is torked saying that to him "it's already a done deal" based on Sumner's comments in QST. I understand Jay's comments about the A&F. However, it seems we are structuring this in a way to get input for "when" it is done, not "whether" it is be done. Recall that I was very concerned at the Board meeting about this distinction because I was not willing, and am still not willing, to agree to the removal of the Section News from QST. I asked then that someone at HQ be designated to go forth and really work with the SM's on that issue. I pulled that motion of course, but my concern in this regard is still there and now we are approaching another Board meeting wondering what overall progress we've made with the SMs. I think there will be another firestorm and it may be as bad or worse because of the SM's perception, right or wrong, that the decision has already been made that Section News will be removed regardless of what they want. 73, Rick - K5UR

I have found that the vast majority of folks at club meetings I have visited since the last board meeting have agreed that moving section news to the web makes good cents!! I also have heard from various SMs that they do NOT want to see this change. 73, Tuck NZ6T K5ur@aol.com wrote:
