[ARRL-ODV:10284] Re: RM-10867 assigned to ARRL restructuring petition

Jim, I will share some information from documents from the Department of Transportation/Federal Aviation Administration orders used to correct logs that was available to be carried to court by attorneys for Air Traffic Controllers and the Airway Facilities (maintenance people). The ordered stated: Draw a line through the words or words to be corrected in black or blue ink. Make the correction as this should be the next word or words following. The line drawn through the correction should be initial by the person making the correction, using three initials. Example: HRL for Henry R. Leggette. It was a procedure for persons with only two initials. I can't remember that one and you can see why as I have three initials. Jim, it was a procedure for correction a complete line, 1/2 half line or complete page and I can't remember that in detail. It has been a long time since all the maintenance and logging were transfered to computers and this was a while before I retired. I am working part time at the center (Memphis ARTCC) where I worked before I retired and I will check around next week to see if those old orders are available. Did this help? I hope this did not confuse you as the FAA was very detailed in the 70's and 80's when I was an electronics technician. Now, you can see why I always write my name as Henry R. Leggette, due to nearly 30 years of signing a legal log on my shift. 73, Henry R. My understanding of Federal practice in making changes to official documents (whether governmental or civilian) is to cross them out so that the changed material is still legible (and this was done) and for the person who made the change to initial and date the change. My question is: "Is the three-character set the initials or a staffer (WFC?) or is this a code for the staffer (W7C)? The question, of course, revolves around the "7" or "F." Which one? Curious.
