[arrl-odv:31385] Online speakers/presenters

While COVID has certainly taken its toll nationally on conducting in-person club meetings and activities, clubs have improvised with online Zoom meetings featuring remote speakers and presenters. I was wondering if any of you, your Section Managers or ACCs have been compiling lists of online presenters that could be shared with their counterparts outside of their respective sections/divisions. Perhaps someone at Hq. could even compile a "list of lists" on the arrl.org affiliated clubs page. Thanks and 73, Phil Temples, K9HI Vice Director New England Division -- Phil Temples <phil@temples.com>

Hi Phil, I don’t have a formal list but I do keep a few of my friends available. These are people I regularly call on to do programs at clubs and conventions. 1. Alan Wolke, W2AEW, NNJ TC and engineer at tektronix. He does great presentations on test equipment especially nanovna 2. Me. (Ria Jairam, N2RJ). I do presentations on SDR and DXing 3. Joe Eisenberg, K0NEB. He does kit building. 4. Lauren Libby, W0LD. He does programs on international high power shortwave broadcasting. 5. Joe Taylor, K1JT. He does talks on weak signal and WSJT modes. 6. Andrea Slack, K2EZ. She does talks on VHF roving. 7. Andy Kirschenbaum, WA2CDL. He talks about fox hunting and radio repair. 8. Peter Dougherty, W2IRT. He talks about the QSL bureau, DXCC and DXing. 9. Bill Hudzik, W2UDT, my vice-director who talks about the QSL bureau and DXing. 10. Howard Bernstein, WB2UZE, he talks about CW and learning CW. Their club, the Long Island CW club runs a successful Morse code training program. Additionally we have a list of speakers who more or less present at HRU every year: http://hamradiouniversity.org/moderator-bios-2020/ Bob Heil also does a program about audio at various clubs. He’s presented to a few clubs here in the Hudson division and I’ve attended some of those. It was pretty good. Fair Lawn ARC In NJ also has a good roster of speakers they find. Ed, WX2R can put you in touch. 73 Ria N2RJ On Tue, Nov 24, 2020 at 9:21 AM Phil Temples <phil@temples.com> wrote:

PhilTake a look at www.wcares.org. that is our site for the Williamson County, TN ARES group for which I am the EC. Every month I have an ARES presentation and a technical presentation. Most month we also have a virtual shack tour. All of the past year's presentations are there. Any of you are welcome to pull them down and use them for your groups.73Ed WB4RHQ Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone -------- Original message --------From: Phil Temples <phil@temples.com> Date: 11/24/20 8:21 AM (GMT-06:00) To: ODV <arrl-odv@arrl.org> Subject: [arrl-odv:31385] Online speakers/presenters While COVID has certainly taken its toll nationally on conductingin-person club meetings and activities, clubs have improvised withonline Zoom meetings featuring remote speakers and presenters.I was wondering if any of you, your Section Managers or ACCs have beencompiling lists of online presenters that could be shared with theircounterparts outside of their respective sections/divisions.Perhaps someone at Hq. could even compile a "list of lists" on thearrl.org affiliated clubs page. Thanks and 73,Phil Temples, K9HIVice DirectorNew England Division-- Phil Temples <phil@temples.com>_______________________________________________arrl-odv mailing listarrl-odv@reflector.arrl.orghttps://reflector.arrl.org/mailman/listinfo/arrl-odv

Great Idea, Phil. It would be nice to have that list online and it might be good to start a video archive so that clubs can select pre-recorded presentations if that is appropriate. 73, Art K0AIZ Arthur I. Hi Phil. Great topic! We have talked about building this into our new services for affiliated clubs. Today, there is no outreach or programming we provide to clubs. That will change once we have restructured how we are performing field services to SM's and clubs - including a new position to be hired. We'd like to provide a database of speakers, but also a monthly 'push' with an internal or external speaker who has a program that is timely and specific for club meetings. Too often the speakers are known but their content may not be up to date or timely. By having the field services group working with the speakers - especially if they are already producing content on social media such as YouTube - you can ensure that the content is going to be fresh. One of the people Ria pointed out does very good talks, and his latest presentation on using the NanoVNA caused a few FLARC members to run out and buy one! There may be good ways to fill the gap between now and then, but that's the way we're headed. I have the NW Division Asst Director (Lynn, N7CFO), that is responsible for maintaining our Divison Speakers list checking with presenters with Zoom capability to see which ones would be willing to do presos for clubs outside our Division. I know I certainly would, and have! I think such a database for clubs would be very valuable, as long as somebody at HQ could ensure it stays current. 73; Mike W7VO
