[arrl-odv:12026] Re: Dayton Registration

Hello Jim, I plan to attend the Dayton Hamfest this year. I have bought my airline ticket, but not an admission ticket (yet). 73, Frank Butler, W4RH ARRL Director, SE Division ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim K8JE" <K8JE@arrl.org> To: "arrl-odv" <arrl-odv@reflector.arrl.org> Sent: Monday, March 28, 2005 11:36 PM Subject: [arrl-odv:12008] Re: Dayton Registration
FYI, I've not discussed comp. passes for the ARRL Convention with my Hamvention counterparts. I have a meeting with the Committee on 4/8 and will get an answer on this. I'm going for all Directors/Officers at a minimum and will try to extend this to all Vice Directors who will attend. From past experience, Forum moderators automatically receive passes/parking passes. I presume non-Offices, Directors and Vice Directors who attend will either be presenters or staff who will accompany the sales side of our presence.
I NEED YOUR INPUT, THEN: If you will attend the Hamvention this year, please let me know between today and this coming Monday so I can have a count to propose to the appropriate folks at the Hamvention.
Tnx. C Y'all (I'm still practicing to speak Kentucky!)

I agree with Dick.
I don't think we've ever had to do this at any previous National Conventions, unless we did this the other time Dayton was a national.
It should be complicated, either. A list of the Directors & Officers planning to attend can very easily be provided.

"Board members going to Dayton will have to buy your own Dayton tickets (registration) - that's not something being arranged in Newington except for HQ travellers."
This is absurd!
For an ARRL National Convention, I object to any ARRL officials having to pay their way into their own convention and then having ARRL reimburse the cost. We should be credentialed by the Hamvention as exhibitors and admitted free of charge. If this provision was not included in the convention agreement, it should have been.
ARRL convention or approved hamfest = free admission for ARRL staff, directors and officers
If ARRL is going to have to pay for our admission, is there a net savings in having ARRL headquarters obtain exhibitor passes as opposed to having ARRL directors buy admission tickets at full retail?
