[ARRL-ODV:10936] Tidings of Comfort and Joy

As we say at Christmastime, I bring you tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. D'Wana Terry is no longer the Chief, Public Safety and Critical Infrastructure Division, Wireless Telecommunications Bureau, FCC. Wait. It gets better. The new Chief of that Division, (drum roll here and perhaps some bagpipes) is Mike Wilhelm, WS6BR. Weird vanity callsign for a D.C. condo dweller, yes, but Mike is a good guy, a former down-in-the-trenches private sector communications lawyer, and a knowledgeable ham. Dave Sumner has known him for some time, and of course I have. Joel Harrison met him with me to pre-sell our Restructuring II petition, and Mike liked it (off the record, he said). Fair to say that Joel was impressed with Mike as well. Now we have some opportunities. D'Wana is now doing "administrative and logistics" work as "Chief of Staff" of the Wireless Bureau. In other words, no actual job, but good title. A promotion to solve a problem. Strictly speaking, Mike is "acting" Division chief now, but the scuttlebutt is that he will be the permanent guy. A good thing for us, finally. 73, Chris W3KD
