Indeed. I guess we need to be prepared to tell them the cost difference between the meeting we just had in Houston and the one we had in Connecticut last January. My guess is that it cost a bit more to meet in Houston, but hopefully it was nominal in the grand scheme of things. -- Andy At 12:43 PM 1/28/2008, K8JE wrote:
Dues vs. Meeting Location: Putting my "weirdo" shoes on and walking a quarter mile in them, I can envision that some members think that our meetings in "Newington" are actually at HQ. If this was true, there would be no out-of-pocket expense for meeting rooms. Also if this was true, the cost of meeting outside of Newington would be substantially increased over meeting at HQ. Never mind the cost of hotel rooms (In Newington we always stay in a Dollar 5 motel, of course).

It just strikes me as funny that anyone in their wildest imagination would attempt to connect the elimination of senior dues with the meeting location.
Not only are the two not connected in anyway, you can't make any dollar comparison between a board meeting in Houston -vs- Hartford and the cost of services to a member over 65 -vs- a member under the age of 65.

We had a division webinar meeting last with the SM's and AD's. Thr SM's expressed their thanks that they were sent info about the board meeting before release to the general membership.
Incidentally there were questions about the elimination of senior dues but after discussion it didn't appear to be a problem.
One asst director mentioned that he saw a message on a reflector he follows that some members are aware senior dues are to be eliminated and if so why did the board meet in Houston? Don't know if that will become a problem but the question is in the reflector.
