Sales and Marketing Reported by Bob Inderbitzen, NQ1R Diane Petrilli reports that March ended with 169,176 members, 245 members ahead of the year-to-date goal. This represents a loss from February of 677 members; a loss of 905 was forecast. The on-time renewal rate for March is 72.16% vs. 73.76% last March. The largest sources of acquisition were applications received from new licensees, ARRL notification of FCC license expiration, a February membership mailing, and the ARRL website (not attributed to anything in particular). Jackie Ferreira reports that February product sales were $254,223, exceeding the sales forecast of $216,706. Direct sales were $138,801; dealer sales were $115,422. Direct sales are up $41k and dealer sales $21k from March 2015-our best March since 2009. Royalties earned on sales of our Kindle e-books were $9,029 - up significantly due to the recent introduction of 3 more ARRL e-books. On April 2, Bob Inderbitzen attended the Wisconsin Section Convention at AES Superfest as the staff representative. Attendance neared 1,000. There were 10 manufacturer exhibits including Yaesu and West Mountain Radio, and 11 exhibits for regional clubs and organizations. Bob returned with 64 membership applications, totaling 76 membership years; renewals and a handful of new members. Bob also participated at a radio club meeting for the Milwaukee Radio Amateurs' Club, which marks its 99th anniversary this year. He constructed power supply Power Pole pigtails for the ARISS transceiver and 2-meter amplifier. He also updated the web schedules for the weekly code practice sources. Scott Gee worked on slow and fast code practice files for the week. He also processed some VUCC applications. Report for the week ending March 26, 2016: Joe processed six Qualifying Run certificates and one endorsement. He created the texts for the W1AW April Qualifying Runs. He updated the web schedules for the weekly web code practice sources. He also corrected an issue with the PC used for the W1AW EchoLink conference server. Field Organization/Public Service Team Leona reports that there are three new SM's beginning their terms as April 1, 2016: Scott Wren, KD5DFL - Louisiana; Joe Speroni, AHØA - Pacific; and David Kaltenborn, N8KBC - San Diego. Leona has been working the new SM's to make sure ARRL badges were ordered, certificates and the proper supplies were sent. Thank you to the mailroom staff for getting the Section Manager ballots and statements out to the members this week for the upcoming SM election for the Alabama section. An Ohio station forwarded documentation regarding two cases of unlicensed operation on 10 meters by truck drivers and the information was sent to the FCC. Questions dealt with mobile operation while driving in Florida which was referred to the Florida Government Liaison who responded with the information, the SBE comments to the FCC-initiated proceeding about AM broadcast revitalization, the digital voice modes on VHF, power levels used in remote control of drones, taking ham gear on commercial airlines, and stealth type antennas which was referred to Joel Hallas. Documentation was received of an online distributor selling easily modified ham gear to operate on the CB band. Follow up information was provided to an Oregon station about reported interference in the 2 meter band, referred to the lab and the station was given information and advice. Chuck ran two morning code practice sessions at W1AW and hosted a visitor.
