I'd been a little nervous about having an operation on Good Friday. As we walked to the OR I realized that hey, if I soloed an airplane on Memorial Day, I could do this too. I was telling the surgical nurse about that just as they got me on the table and pulled my arms straight out perpendicular to my body. Well, at that point my bravado evaporated, until a sudden calm came over me and I realized I'd be up and walking in three days.
