Some days ago, ODV received a document containing a naming opportunity associated with a substantial gift to ARRL. It was evident that most, if not all, Directors felt that a commercial name on the ARRL Lab would jeopardize the lab's reputation for neutrality. While naming is the principal concern, there are specific performances in the agreement as circulated that are also of concern. Accordingly, we are engaged in a dialog with the donor and his representatives to understand the donor's wishes and how they can be met, while retaining an unaltered reputation of independence of the Lab. Those discussions are ongoing, but there is nothing new to report. At this time, it is impossible to tell whether talks will result in an agreement acceptable, both to ARRL and to the donor.
