[arrl-odv:27866] U. S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger

Dear Officers, Directors and Vice-Directors, I wanted to inform you that U. S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger (D., Ill) has re-filed his legislation regarding the Amateur Radio Parity Act. Please know that Rep. Kinzinger undertook this on his own volition and did not contact anyone at ARRL HQ to let us know that he was going to do this. We certainly appreciate Congressman Kinzinger’s ongoing support of Amateur Radio and of radio amateurs’ rights to operate. It is also important to remember that his legislation did previously generate wide support among his House and Senate colleagues, and that the legislation was supported by many members of the amateur radio community. During the past three years, nearly 170,000 letters of support were sent to every member of the House and Senate over that time from more than 58,000 individuals different individuals. While there is no way to predict what will happen to Rep, Kinzinger’s legislation given the current state of affairs in Washington, this action does add some urgency to the need for the ARRL Board of Directors to begin crafting its legislative agenda for 2019. I look forward to meeting with you all next week and to working with you all on developing such an agenda. 73, Howard, WB2ITX -- Howard E.
