On Thursday, December 14, the Vice President's, Chief Technical Officer and General Counsel will meet at the ARRL Technical Relations Office in Fairfax, VA, for presentations and discussions on a number of amateur radio matters. After lunch we will drive over to Alexandria, VA to the offices of Chwat & Co. for a meeting to discuss government relations. On Friday, December 15, ARRL will host a "Washington Beltway Luncheon" at the national headquarters of the NAB. The NAB has nothing to do with this luncheon but has excellent facilities that are strategically located in the D.C. area and they have always been gracious enough to permit us to use their facilities. There will be approximately 40 attendees. These radio amateurs are employed in various capacities in the D.C. area that could provide or have provided assistance to ARRL in our many activities in D.C. We have held this luncheon many times in past, but it has been over 5 years since the last one. The agenda is as follows: 11:30 AM - Meet and Greet for half an hour before lunch. 12:00 Noon - Lunch. Presentations: Joel Harrison: Introductions, presentation of the Agenda, and the state of Amateur Radio. Dave Sumner: ARRL and Looking Ahead to 2007 John Chwat and Eric Heis: Amateur Radio Legislation Kay Craigie: Emergency Communications improvements. Paul Rinaldo: WRC-2007 Issues and Plans. Chris Imlay: BPL and FCC Pending Dockets (i.e. License Exam Requirements, 05-235). Input from attendees. 1:00 PM - Adjourn. I'm looking forward to a productive week next week.
