[arrl-odv:24811] Senator Nelson (FL)

Dan Henderson called me today to tell me that Chris had just left Senator Nelson's office, that he was on the fence, and that we needed to barrage him with calls. I sent a message asking for phone calls ASAP. I'm getting reports that Senator Nelson's phone lines are jammed :) Doug K4AC

Doug that is spectacular, thanks. In preparation for the Senate Markup on Wednesday next, which all of you can watch on streamed video at the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee web site, Frank McCarthy from TKG and I met with the minority staff of the full Committee this morning to make sure that they were on board on the Bill. These were sophisticated people with whom we had met before. As we discovered, CAI had been in to see them as well. We left our newest CAI rebuttal memo with them and explained that CAI was, quite literally, lying to everyone about what the Bill would and wouldn't do. The CST committee staff said right away that Bill Nelson, the ranking minority Senator from Florida (the hottest hotbed of CC&Rs) had not yet made up his mind about the Bill. We gave the full presentation to the Committee staff (one of whom was former FCC and very knowledgeable. I have known him a bit for years). The meeting went very well and we candidly reported the misreps from CAI. They told us that CAI claimed that they had reached out to us to meet about a compromise bill and that we had never responded to them. That is a big fat lie and we showed them the e-mail traffic on that subject, firmly establishing that CAI had made one tenative contact with me (having been referred by Senator Wicker's office); gthat we had agreed to meet with them; and that we had heard no more from them after that. The ball was in CAI's court. In any case, Frank McCarthy asked if we could flood Nelson's office with calls before the markup; we called Dan Henderson from the Hill, and Dan called Doug, and now Doug has caused to happen exactly what we needed to happen extremely quickly, so good on you, Doug. Thanks. Well-done. 73, Chris W3KD On Thu, Nov 12, 2015 at 2:27 PM, Doug Rehman <doug@k4ac.com> wrote:
