I hear that the new convention display was successfully previewed at HQ
last week - and was quite a hit.
Bob Inderbitzen/NQ1R is working to finalize the schedule for all of the
ARRL booths at Dayton. Staff assignments have now been worked out so it's time to work the rest of us into the mix. For Board members not already scheduled to "man" a booth, here is your chance to volunteer before we volunteer you. We're planning to have each Board member signed up for three hours a day (maybe two 90-minute segments) - at one of the EXPO booths or the sales & marketing areas.
Two booths are being run by Directors - Frank Fallon/N2FF is managing the
Grassroots Organizing booth, and Howard Huntington is working on the Technology Task Force booth. I know both of them can use additional help. Contact them directly and let Bob Inderbitzen know if you'll be working with either of them.
Booths that definitely need some additional help include
Volunteer Exam Coordinator (Maria Somma is the only staffer
covering this exhibit)
Media and Public Relations (could use some help on Sunday morning) EmCom/Public Service Clubs & Mentoring Education and Technology Sales & Membership booth (EXPO and North Hall locations)
You can volunteer to help at the booths in other subject areas as well -
see the attached floor plan for a list.
Additionally, the EXPO will have a presentation area. There will be a
stage, seating for 30 people, and AV equipment for presentations. The schedule is for a new "15 minute" presentation every 30 minutes - and 75% of the time slots are already filled in. A couple of months ago when we started planning for Dayton, several Board members volunteered to give presentations - so Bob will be getting in touch with you in the next week to see if the offer still stands. Anyone else wanting to have their 15 minutes of fame and willing to deliver an educational and/or entertaining speech, please contact Bob as well.
I've attached a PDF file that Bob prepared showing the floor plan for the
EXPO and the "usual" sales area.
** In summary ***
1) Volunteer to help at a booth now or we'll assign one to you after next
week.
2) Sign up for your 15-minutes of fame in the ARRL EXPO presentation area.
I'll be on the road this next week so tough to reach, please work with Bob directly - NQ1R@arrl.org or rinderbitzen@arrl.org
Thanks! -- Tom
PS: Just two weeks until Dayton! My feet are already started to feel tired.
