Many of you have inquired about various individuals down here in the area in the aftermath of Katrina. Here in the area of the Division where Rick, Henry and I live we really don't have any damage, but are wrestling a real problem in providing for evacuees who have come to this area for housing. There are many shelters and churches set up to provide care and hotels are pretty full of people from the coast area. We know that Mike, W5ZPA, past DXAC rep who lives in New Orleans evacuated to Memphis and has lost his home and a number or rental property he has. We have not heard from former LA SM Wondy, K5KR or one of our very good Diamond Club supporters John Uhl, W5ZE. Some of you may have met John at one of our Dayton Donor receptions. We don't know that anything has happened to them physically, we just haven't heard from them. Of course, there are countless other members in the area that are providing much needed communications and serving the various agencies we support. I go to New Orleans frequently, as one of my major clients is located there. Its quite distressful to see the TV coverage and be able to personally relate to the location of just about every scene, but I can only imagine the impact to the actual residence of the area. 73 Joel W5ZN
