[arrl-odv:17991] ARRL Letter Conversion Update

Hi, I want to let everyone know that there will be a delay in changing over the ARRL Letter from its current text format to HTML. We had originally anticipated the changeover to occur sometime around now, but we will most likely be delaying it another 30 -45 days until early September. We have been working diligently on this conversion and we have already run a few test issues of the Letter internally. During this testing process, we found a few glitches in the process and we are currently fixing them. We are also still working on converting the editorial content to the new format. We have found that it is not simply a matter of moving 5,000 word from one format to the other. It requires some re-formatting and re-thinking of how the material is written and presented. As you are most likely aware, the new format will allow us to have graphics, photos and operative links. It will also carry advertising and ARRL promotional announcements. The ARRL Letter currently has 77,468 weekly subscribers. Even in its current format, it has continued to increase circulation. We want to make sure that we get it right when we make the jump to the new format. 73, Harold Harold Kramer, WJ1B Chief Operating Officer ARRL - The national association for Amateur Radio 225 Main Street Newington, CT 06111 Telephone: 860 594 0220 email: hkramer@arrl.org <mailto:hkramer@arrl.org> web: www.arrl.org/ <http://www.arrl.org/>
