Many people probably do not have Word 2007. There is a free converter for Word 2003 from Microsoft that will let the user ready Word 2007 documents (*.docx), but don't assume everyone has it. You may just want to save documents in Word 2003 format before sending them out to a wide non-HQ audience. It's easy to save in Word 2003 format - it's one of the File Save options.
