As some of you already know, I will not be at the July Board meeting. While visiting with my daughter and her family in Woodstock the family pet, a French bulldog, pulled her off the back porch and Kathleen broke two bones in her right foot. She had surgery here on LI a week later and now has two pins holding the ligaments in place (they will be removed eventually) and two screws holding the metatarsals in place. She also has a heavy cast up to the knee. Luckily she did not hit her head and had only only a few scrapes. She had surgery two weeks ago and is now on the mend but she is not really mobile at this point. Getting up and down stairs is a real chore and the heat and humidity has been bad lately. She spend most of her time in the air-conditioned bedroom in this old Victorian and I deliver her meals and other necessities. She has been doing a great deal of reading and talking on the cell phone. The bad news is that she has discovered that I can cook, load and turn on the dishwasher, and even shop. I fear this may be a life changing incident for me. I may never recover. So, have a great meeting without me. I am sure Joyce will do a great job sitting in my seat.
