All, I would like to share with you a photo of one of our newest licensees, Charlie Harltey, KF0OOP. This photo was taken at Saturday’s ARRL Midwest Division Convention / Winterfest Hamfest sponsored by the St. Louis and Suburban Radio Club. Charlie is 18 and a freshman at Webster University, St. Louis, MO. He is a Sound Engineering major at the University and also an accomplished musician, playing both bass guitar and the upright string base. Charlie recently received his technician class license ! The photo shows Charlie completing his ARRL Associate Membership Application under the watchful eyes of proud grandpa, Bob Heil, K9EID. Charlie surprised his grandfather with his FCC license as a birthday present for Grandpa ! As I explained to Charlie and his grandfather, I will hold his Associate Membership application for submittal until you let me know that the “system” is ready to process this new class of membership for full time students aged 21 and younger. Also attached is a photo of the team representing the ARRL at the Midwest Division Convention/ Winterfest Hamfest. Left to right in the photo are Dave Propper, K2DP, Vice Director ARRL Midwest Division; , Tom Beebe, W9RY, Section Manager, Illinois and Josh Johnston, KE5MHV, ARRL Director of Emergency Management. By the way, if you would like to use either of these photos for publication (website or magazine) I have received verbal authorization from both Bob Heil and Charlie Hartley to use these photos with ARRL publications, etc. 73, Dave, K2DP Dave Propper, K2DP Member, ARRL Programs and Services Committee Board Liaison, ARRL RF Safety Committee Chair, ARRL Historical Committee ARRL Midwest Division Vice Director 314-225-5167 (mobile) k2dp@arrl.org<mailto:k2dp@arrl.org> [cid:20175ECC-78E8-49C2-A88E-F0BB775E0AE1][cid:6BC54F56-2CDF-40B6-B3F7-60F5311B7076]
