Gary’s points are well taken, and he has some experience with Texterity. I checked the demo on my Iphone4 and I was very impressed with the load times. They were excellent. Enlarging the pages did decrease the resolution somewhat, but the pages were readable. Should Texterity be able to address Gary’s points, I think this is on the right track. Just FYI, I have been using Zinio for some time now. They carry a large variety of magazines. You can specify whether pages can be printed. You cannot share copies of the magazine, as the reader downloads a license with the magazine. Zinio has an Iphone app as well. It worked well in terms of being able to open it on an Apple device. I especially liked the indexing of articles. But the pages seemed to be just scanned and not .pdf files that you can enlarge indefinitely with full resolution retained. The pictures were pretty fuzzy (aliased) when enlarged to full iPhone screen size. The text had aliasing "noise" in the white space surrounding each letter. Not good. I have been using Texterity with my iPhone for a couple of years without these problems, so I suspect the problem is with .jpg-like as opposed to algorithmic .pdf type file. Would doing this involve added cost? Also, please let me know if there is a practical way to add programmed voice translation to an online service. If there is, about what would it cost?
