Do we have a feel yet for likely opening dates for these bands? FB! Bruce
No, Bruce, and remember, it is just an NPRM. But I would suspect that a Report and Order could be done this year some time, and the effective date of these is 30 days after a report and order, once FCC releases it, is published in the Federal Register. But there are pitfalls here, of course, one of which is that there are some folks at NTIA who are NOT happy about potential heavy amateur use of 5 MHz, and potential interference to government assignments there. The NPRM passed the IRAC, but some residual concern still exists. Let's not count our chickens before they are hatched.... Then of course the Wi-Fi people who can't believe that amateurs might actually operate in their unlicensed band, 2400-2402 MHz.... 73, Chris W3KD
