At the time of the July Board meeting the Programs & Services Committee had not quite completed its consideration of nominations for the Hiram Percy Maxim Award. This award is for a licensed amateur under the age of 21 whose accomplishments and contributions are of the most exemplary nature within the framework of Amateur Radio activities, including, but not limited to, the following: Participation or leadership in organizational affairs at the local or national level, technical achievement, operating record, recruitment and training of new Amateurs, and public relations activities. The committee considered two nominations and unanimously recommended that Derek Brown, W4DTB of Chapel Hill, NC receive the award. Based on this recommendation the Board has voted unanimously, by electronic mail, in favor of the following resolution: "Resolved, that in accordance with the recommendation of the Programs and Services Committee, the Hiram Percy Maxim Award is given to Derek Brown, W4DTB."
