While this storm is not expected to strengthen beyond possibly a Category 2 at this time, depending on the track-consequences, it could be severe in some areas. Rainfall may be the greatest impact from this event. In addition to the preparedness steps each of your Sections will be taking, we also wanted to advise you of Headquarters steps that are in process. I have begun to participate in the NWS Conference calls of Forecast Offices and coordination with the various federal level and NVOAD groups that would have a role in the response. Specifically for each of your Sections, our expectation is that local responses will follow existing plans. In order for ARRL HQ to support any response, an Incident Management Team will be assembled here to coordinate any multi-Section/regional efforts. Section Managers and the Section Emergency Coordinators would be concentrating on the in-section efforts, while resource requests, support from unaffected sections and coordination with served agencies at the national and federal level would be handled by the IMT. I will lead the IMT along with specific HQ staff who will be assigned to handle Logistics, Media and Public Relations, Administration, Interference and others as the missions dictate. Additionally, if needed, we can use/activate W1AW for communications purposes. To coordinate these activities, if necessary, we will hold conference calls with those Sections that are impacted by the Storm. At this point, we are not planning any calls or coordination efforts beyond those described above. This will change as the track of Danny becomes better defined. We do ask that if any Section is elevating its readiness status, to report this and the steps taken me at k2dcd@arrl.org <mailto:k2dcd@arrl.org> Ongoing updates will help us with developing the situation awareness we need to react to any requests. Please look for further direct messages from me and other HQ staffers as the situation develops. Thank you for your ongoing support, cooperation and for the your work and the work of all the volunteers. 73 Dennis Dennis C.
