[arrl-odv:29781] ODV - registration for ARRL at Dayton Hamvention

To: ARRL Officers, Directors and Vice Directors supporting ARRL at 2020 Dayton Hamvention, May 15-17, 2020 If you are planning to attend Dayton Hamvention this year please read this message thoroughly. Please note that registration is due March 31st. If you do not register by then, we cannot guarantee there will be a room for you as that is when they release our room block and local hotels will fill up early for this event. This message includes a registration link for Board members who are volunteering as part of the 2020 ARRL Team supporting our exhibits and activities at Dayton Hamvention. The registration form will also collect hotel reservations within ARRL's room block. Volunteers will each receive an ARRL exhibitor's badge (in lieu of purchasing a Hamvention ticket), and ARRL team shirts (these are the same coast-blue polo shirts as 2019). 2020 Dayton Hamvention is May 15-17 at the Greene County Fairgrounds & Expo Center, 120 Fairground Road, Xenia, OH 45385. The theme is "Amateur Radio, The Future." Jack Gerbs, WB8SCT, Hamvention General Chairman, said the theme is focused on technology, past, present and future. ARRL will host our large exhibit area in Building 2. Hours are Fri & Sat 9 AM to 5 PM, and Sun 9 AM to 1 PM. The ARRL Donor Reception is Thursday, May 14 at 6:30 PM (a separate invitation will be forthcoming). We are in particular need for volunteers who can help with the following activities: * Encouraging renewing members to join the Diamond Club, or to support other ARRL funding initiatives (choose "Membership and Diamond Club" on the registration form) * Mentoring attendees with kit assembly and soldering in ARRL's Build-a-Radio booth (choose "Build-a-Radio Kit" on the registration form) * Demonstrating the ARRL Magazines app to access QST and On the Air magazine (choose "Digital Benefits Demo" on the registration form) * Helping in the ARRL Store with crowd control, restocking, answering questions, smiling (choose "ARRL Store" on the registration form) If you're interested in volunteering, please complete and submit the following online registration form by March 31: http://www.arrl.org/hamvention-2020-ARRL-Team-Registration. The online registration form will help us organize room reservations, badges, apparel and staffing for the event. Please complete your registration before March 31, so we can meet the deadline for our hotel room block. Even if your plans are not entirely committed, please complete the form with your tentative information so we can develop counts for hotel bookings. The registration form should not be shared with anyone else. If you have a spouse, companion, or other family member accompanying you-and they're interested in volunteering with you-please have them complete a registration form, too (be sure they mention your participation, so we can associate their registration with your own). REGISTRATION: Please complete and submit this online registration form by March 31: http://www.arrl.org/hamvention-2020-ARRL-Team-Registration TRAVEL EXPENSES: ARRL Officers, Directors, and the Great Lakes Division Vice Director may seek travel expense reimbursement, expensed to their respective ARRL budgets. ARRL's staff team and Board members will be housed at the Marriott at the University of Dayton, 1414 S. Patterson Blvd in Dayton, Ohio. This is the same Marriott as 2018 and 2019. The hotel is 17 miles from the exhibition fairgrounds in Xenia. Our online registration form will capture your hotel registration information (please don't book directly with the hotel). ARRL's room block must be committed by the end of March. Each room includes 2 hot breakfasts and Guest Room Wireless Internet. Hamvention parking is free and includes limited onsite parking (weather permitting) and remote lots served by a free shuttle. No parking passes are necessary. Those requiring ADA/Handicap parking should visit the Hamvention website for instructions. Shuttles and golf carts will be going through the lots to facilitate easy access. I recommend carpooling from the hotel to the fairgrounds with other members of the Board. A list of our staff travel team and exhibits for Hamvention is included below.
