Fwd: One Heck Of An Amateur Radio Opportunity

6 FEB, 2002 - 1320 CST Here is another reason we need to get our act reorganized as soon as reasonably possible. Our participation in this potential funding/ service area can in turn be used as a strong argument for congressional action on the extension of PRB-1. 73 - Dick, W9GIG

President Bush wants to increase the FEMA budget by 114%.
"FEMA is poised to launch recruitment efforts for the volunteers and dispense a massive $3.5 billion in grants to local emergency agencies unveiled in President Bush's new budget proposal."
Looks like a great time for ARES and RACES and the ARRL to get their hands up and out and show the nation how important Amateur Radio can be to the security and safety of our people. The Red Cross will have a huge opportunity to advance their skills and deployment programs as well.
Who should we, as ARRL members, be giving this message to at HQ?
