The notification was sent to 121,126 members. Thanks to Joe Carcia, NJ1Q, Dan Henderson, N1ND, Lisa Kustosik, KA1UFZ, Sean Kutzko, KX9X and Jordan Sakal, KB1ZDZ, for operating W1AW as a 3F entry. 1,044 QSOs were made, on 80 through 6 meters, using CW, SSB, and RTTY, for an initial claimed score of 1,490. As part of the operation, Joe generated and sent a message to CT Section Manager Betsey Doane, K1EIC, using the ICS 213 General Message Format, and via WL2K on HF. Early on during the event, the app Periscope (https://www.periscope.tv/) was used to stream live video from W1AW. Joe Carcia assisted Mike Corey and Ken Miller in the installation of a new wireless Davis Weather System for use both in W1HQ, and eventual its use for beaconing weather on APRS using a Raspberry Pi and TNC. (This install required the removal of the 20-meter vertical atop the HQ penthouse roof.) In addition, Joe ran the Field Day bulletins during the weekend. He readied the station for Field Day. He updated the web code practice files and their archives. Joe also assembled a weather-box containing UHF Bias-T power injectors for use with the Satellite Antenna preamps for W1HQ. Scott has been training with Sani Zanovic on the processing of VUCC applications and their certificates. Scott will be assisting FSR with this process. He also worked on slow and fast code practice files for the week. Field Organization/Public Service Team Thanks to the Mailroom Staff, the Los Angeles Section Manager election ballots were mailed from ARRL Headquarters on June 23. Members will have until Friday, August 14, to return their ballot to Headquarters. The New Section Manager Workshop for been scheduled for September 18 - 20 (Friday through Sunday) at ARRL HQ. Invitations to attend have been sent out to eligible Section Managers. Many Section Managers shared their plans to travel throughout their sections to visit Field Day camps. Several Section Managers and their Section Leaders managed to have State Proclamations issued to recognize Amateur Radio in their respective states during the month of June or the last week of June to coincide with ARRL Field Day.
