[arrl-odv:13194] ARRL files Manassas BPL interference complaint

Two BPL stories appeared in the general media last week. The first was last Monday's announcement by PPL in Pennsylvania that they were abandoning BPL after marketplace failure of their field trials. See http://www.arrl.org/news/stories/2005/10/05/4/?nc=1. That was real news. The second, last Tuesday, was the latest performance of the ongoing Manassas BPL media circus. An announcement was staged that Manassas was the first city where BPL was fully deployed. Manassas is also the first city in which HF radio interference from BPL is now pervasive. This morning Chris Imlay filed on our behalf a consolidated complaint detailing the experiences of radio amateurs in Manassas and the failure of the BPL system operator to resolve the ongoing interference. Our complaint is attached. We will be shopping this side of the story to the media starting today as well as publicizing it to our own members and other amateurs.
