[arrl-odv:19782] H.R. 607 letters

Here is the breakdown by state and recipient of the second set of letters delivered to the Hill about H.R. 607. There are more letters in the queue. A lot more. John Chwat says that hundreds of letters are arriving each day, causing the local post office to liken the situation to the scene in "Miracle on 34th Street" where an endless line of postmen carries bulging bags of letters to Santa Claus into the courtroom. The letters have to be opened, sorted by state and district, logged, and also checked to be sure they are on-topic. That apparently causes a certain amount of backlog in getting the letters to the Hill. The percentage of undeliverable letters decreased a lot compared to the last report. We'd like the number to be zero, of course, but the trend is in the right direction. Thanks to a generous offer from a member in Connecticut who is in video production, we now have a short video about H.R. 607 that can be watched on our web site or downloaded and played at events. You can see it by clicking on "HR 607 Video" on the home page menu that begins on the left with "About Amateur Radio." A direct link to the video's location (www.arrl.org/hr-607) might be a nice addition to Division web pages and bulletins. 73 - Kay N3KN
