[ARRL-ODV:8831] Re: A Test...

"Imagine if you will...". I can still hear Rod Serling saying it. Some of those automatic replies say that the message did not reach the recipient, but go on to say that the server will keep trying. You have to read the fine print as they say. Unless the message says something like "permanent" or "fatal" error, look for text that says something about "retrying" and if it says that, you can assume the response you got was just a warning. E-mail seldom goes directly from your e-mail server to the recipients. Much like our NTS, there is a network of servers that receive messages and then forward them further across the internet. What probably happened was that one of the relay servers was trying to send it to the ARRL server and was getting no response. Then it probably tried again a few minutes or a few hours later and it went through. --- Andy Oppel, N6AJO Pacific Division Vice Director Jim Weaver writes:
Concerning one aspect of messages being bounced from HQ, I recently forwarded a message to Dave Sumner. In the return mail was an automatic reply stating it did not reach him. An hour or so later, I received a message . . . from Dave . . . that clearly indicated he indeed had received my initial message. Anyone remember the old "Twilight Zone?"
