[ARRL-ODV:10345] Re: May QST editorial

I respect your opinion, Tom, but disagree. Dave's example is a good one, and a REAL possibility. I base that on input from two radio amateurs that are ISP's and also Web hosts. They can tell you for themselves, if you like, what the most popular web sites are and why most of their customers want fast internet service. No, they're not here in Arkansas....but in different parts of the country. That's another topic for debate, however. In any event, its a very good, realistic example of a situation that I expect will occur. We've all been beating up on Dave to get tough about BPL. Everyone else has taken their gloves off, I'm glad to see Dave so the same because as he said, he put his name on it and we don't have to be defensive about the quality of amateur communications compared to the internet. I wholeheartedly agree with and support his editorial. If as you noted, only one person at the Maine State Convention thought it was improper, I have to assume everyone else, the large majority, that saw it felt it appropriate. 73 Joel W5ZN -----Original Message----- From: Tom Frenaye [mailto:frenaye@pcnet.com] Sent: Saturday, March 27, 2004 5:03 PM To: arrl-odv Subject: [ARRL-ODV:10338] Re: May QST editorial At 10:35 AM 3/26/2004, Joel Harrison wrote [to K1ZZ]:
Don't misunderstand my comment - it is a very good editorial. I especially liked the comment about the drunken neighbor!
Actually, I think the drunken neighbor [watching porn] comment is not appropriate. I sent a private message to Dave about it earlier today. It "feels good" to read it and to understand it as something special since Dave doesn't often write like that. But, it is more like a private comment, not one for public consumption. -- Tom ===== e-mail: k1ki@arrl.org ARRL New England Division Director http://www.arrl.org/ Tom Frenaye, K1KI, P O Box J, West Suffield CT 06093 Phone: 860-668-5444
