[arrl-odv:31081] Re: Update

Thanks to everyone on ODV for the well wishes. I have passed them along to Shelley and she is very appreciative! It's as if 2020 can't get any worse, yet it manages to figure out a way to deceive us all. ;-) 73; Mike W7VO

She was diagnosed several weeks ago with a very rare "non-smoker" cancerous tumor about the size of a large walnut which is completely blocking the airway to the middle lobe of her right lung. That has caused that particular lobe to collapse and makes her very prone to pneumonia and a horrible cough.
I've been shuttling her to doctor and testing appointments the last few weeks. Luckily, Shelley is a retired critical care and lifeflight nurse, so she is working well with the doctors. I just sit there, smile and quietly nod my head.
After all the testing there is actually some good news. Yesterday, the PET scan has shown that the cancer has not spread to any other organs. That is a HUGE relief! Now we are awaiting a meeting with the surgical team and setting a surgery date, probably for a time within the next few weeks. She will lose some or all of her right lung, but the long term prognosis is actually very good. It's certainly looking better than it did a couple of weeks ago when we first found out about all of this.
Thanks again for all the support. I can't tell you enough what it means to me.

Well, someone said something about a plague of Locust on deck. Maybe we direct them to the fires in California and they cancel out. But good news, Mike, on Shelley!
