[arrl-odv:33220] Heads up: Field Day Survey going live!

Just a heads up to those not on the PSC that a survey for what ARRL members think the 2022 Field Day (FD) and beyond, landscape should look like will be out very soon. The PSC thought this survey is important in that it's giving members a real voice in what the rules will look like for their Field Day event, it's not just the ARRL or the Board dictating them. (Field Day is arguably an "event", not a contest, so these decisions do not fall in the purview of the CAC, as some might suggest. That said, they can take the survey just like any other Field Day participant!) Bart will be initially blasting this out to some 12K e-mail addresses he has collected from prior Field Days score submissions. It will also be highlighted on the ARRL website, ARRL Bulletin, and on social media. The survey is fairly short, and the questions center around: - Whether or not the Low Power category limit should be 100 W to match the new ARRL contest rule, or remain at 150 W as documented in the FD rules. - Whether we keep the waiver to allow Class D (home stations, commercial power), to other Class D stations to get point credit for the contacts, as we did in 2020 and 2021 - Whether or not we continue the waiver to limit Class D and Class E (home stations on emergency power), to Low Power or QRP power only, as we did in 2021 only. - Whether or not to continue to allow club aggregate scoring, (allowing clubs to have some members do FD from home, or in the field, and combine their scores as a club), as we did for both 2020 and 2021. - Whether or not to allow to last three answers to be used just for 2022, or for 2022 and beyond. The survey is now LIVE, if anybody on ODV wishes to submit their input! ;-) The survey link is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2022-ARRL-Field-Day-Survey 73; Mike W7VO

This is an excellent opportunity for our members, great idea by the PSC. The survey should be advertised far and wide, as is planned. The survey is painless-I suggest everyone give it a try. Definitely mention it in your division newsletters! ‘73 de Jim N2ZZ Director – Roanoke Division Representing ARRL members in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia ARRL – the national association for Amateur Radio Facebook Page: ARRL Roanoke Division Website: www.arrl-roanoke.org <http://www.arrl-roanoke.org/> From: arrl-odv <arrl-odv-bounces@reflector.arrl.org> On Behalf Of Michael Ritz Sent: Tuesday, January 4, 2022 9:57 PM To: arrl-odv@reflector.arrl.org Subject: [arrl-odv:33220] Heads up: Field Day Survey going live!
