All: The annual subscription cost of Boardsource is $3,250. The first year’s cost was borne by a specific donation from a former Board member who is also a major donor. The renewal date is 3/26/20. Of the current 35 volunteer members of ODV, only 18 ever registered so roughly half the Board. I can’t provide usage stats but as they say….”you can’t play if you don’t register”. In addition to the volunteers, about 14 HQ managers registered to use the site as well. Again, I can’t quote any usage stats for them either. I've not found it terribly useful, but then again I'm so busy with Board committee and local Director activities I haven't taken the time to sit down and digest it all. Most of what I've seen there is related to non-profits and homeowner associations that are not relevant to the ARRL, so I do a quick scan and delete 99% of what they send me. Given the very tight budget this year I would recommend that we halt the subscription, and the money is better spent elsewhere. IMHO, the ARRL and the Board need to be looking outward at this point, not inward. We need to focus on the future of amateur radio, and what we can do for the membership to keep them engaged, not looking inward at how we can improve our non-profit governance. I think that we, as a board, can use this. We need the guidance and related experience of other boards - the ARRL is unique, but we face the same issues that other boards have, particularly with our interaction with staff and the CEO. I've read articles from Boardsource though, and have had access to a subscription in the past. I haven't signed up, didn't even know we had an account, but would appreciate knowing how to do so.
