[arrl-odv:27233] If at first you don't succeed . . . . . . . .

ODV- I sent this to the Executive Committee earlier today. Here is an update of the Parity Act for your reading enjoyment. 73 de Mike N2YBB - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - As you know, along with our seemingly tireless legislative consultant Frank McCarthy, Chris and I have been working to get the Parity Act passed in any way we can. I’ve just learned that our efforts to attach the bill to HR 5515, the National Defense Authorization Act FY19 (NDAA), have been successful in the House as it passed via an en bloc amendment just a short time ago. This means that the Parity Act will be a part of that legislation and will move to the Senate for consideration later this month. Of course, there are no guarantees as to what will happen in the Senate. Bill Nelson is a member of that committee, but NOT the ranking member. Senator Blumenthal, the Bill’s cosponsor in the Senate is also on the committee --- as is Roger Wicker, the sponsor of the Bill in the Senate. Bottom line; this is a good thing. We are continuing to work on an administrative solution as well. That effort is moving along in a positive way. I will continue to bring the E.C. up to date as things happen. 73 de Mike - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Mike Lisenco, N2YBB Director, Hudson Division Chairman, ad hoc Legislative Advocacy Committee ARRL - The national association for Amateur Radio™ 917-865-3538 n2ybb@arrl.org

Let's keep our fingers crossed. 73, Jim K6JAT
