Jackie Ferreira reports that a mailer featuring ARRL publications and products is being prepared for the fall/winter season-and includes 3 unique promotions, one for each of 3 months. 371 orders were received over the long Labor Holiday weekend. Reminders for the 2015 Shelby Hamfest in North Carolina (the ARRL Roanoke Division Convention, Sept 5-6) and HAMCON 2015 in Torrance, California (the ARRL Southwestern Division Convention, Sept 11-13) were emailed to members and lapsed members throughout the two divisions. The emails encouraged visiting the ARRL booth to sign letters supporting the Amateur Radio Parity Act. Similar reminders were posted to the ARRL Facebook page, too. Scott Gee worked on fast and slow code practice files for the week. He also processed some VUCC applications and certificates. Joe Carcia updated the web code practice files and their archives. He created the texts for the September W1AW Qualifying Runs. Joe met with Bob Allison on Wednesday (9/2) to discuss the equipment needed for the ARISS School QSO "Go-Kit." He processed regular W1AW QSL card requests. Joe also processed three (3) Qualifying Run certificates and three (3) Qualifying Run endorsements. Field Organization/Public Service Team Leona Adams reports that there will be a Section Manager election in Santa Barbara during this upcoming season. It will be the only balloted election this autumn. Jim Fortney, K6IYK, of Camarillo, was nominated to run for office before the September 4 receipt deadline for nominations. Incumbent Santa Barbara Section Manager Robert Griffin, K6YR, had already been nominated. Section Manager election ballots and candidate statements are scheduled to be mailed to Santa Barbara Section members by October 1. Leona also reports receiving nominating petitions this past week (ahead of the September 4 receipt deadline) from Ed Emco, W1KT (Western Massachusetts); Bill Duveneck, KB3KYH (Delaware) and Ed James, KA8JMW (New Mexico). They are not facing any opposition and will begin new terms of office on January 1, 2016. As previously reported, the following incumbent Section Managers have also been nominated for new terms. They will not face opposition, so they too will start new terms on January 1, 2016: Larry Camp, WB8R (Michigan); Jim Latham, AF6AQ (East Bay); Ron Cowan, KB0DTI (Kansas); Keith Miller, N9DGK (Tennessee). A re-solicitation seeking nominations for Section Manager in both Alabama and Alaska will be published in January QST. Chuck Skolaut compiled and sent the monthly ARRL Monitoring System/Intruder Watch report to the IARU Region 2 Monitoring Coordinator. Eastern Pennsylvania Official Observers are working on a repeater interference problem. The Kansas OOC is checking out a report of improper behavior of an OO. Questions dealt with this week included the band plan, an amateur operating with a pending license application, 2 meter frequencies and accepted uses, and operating overseas. Chuck and Steve Ewald ran one morning code practice run each at W1AW this past week.
