[arrl-odv:35385] Personal Update

My personal life hit a major bump in the road yesterday and I want to give you an update. As many of you know, my father had a high risk heart procedure 3 ½ weeks ago and amazingly, at nearly 88 years old, came through with flying colors. The recovery period is relatively long, which is to be expected, but he tried to do too much too soon. He suffered a very bad fall yesterday afternoon and was rushed to the hospital. He shattered his ankle on one leg and completely tore the tendon from his knee up to his hip on the other. Both of these will require surgery - we're hoping as early as today - but because of his heart surgery he may not be cleared to have these surgeries until a later date. All of this means that for the next week or two my schedule may become erratic needing to get to his house or to the hospital to take care of things for him - basically relieving Laura who has taken on the support role for him full time so I can focus on work. If you need something from me, please text me as I may be away from email for more than a few hours at a time. And don't worry about time of day. There's 24 to pick from so I'll sort it out. Thanks David

Prayers your way, David. As a person having recently gone through a major surgery, and with the same “Don’t worry, I can safely climb this 10 foot ladder to clean the gutters”, attitude, your father’s fall was my wife’s constant nightmare. When I did too much one day I usually regretted it the next, but one of the problems with getting older is a bad memory! Godspeed for a quick recovery. 73; Mike W7VO Sent from my iPhone, utilizing a very tiny keyboard fed from very fat fingers
