RE: [arrl-odv:18137] Re: Logbook of the World Problem

Harold, I think that publicly acknowledging the problem is likely to reduce problems for HQ and us that result disgruntled LoTW users than if we somehow try to keep the problem - truly a visible problem - undercover. This problem has been public since it first showed up in multiple postings on the "ARRL-LOTW" Yahoo! discuss group on September 23. Why not save a lot of grumbling (and save Norm Fusaro a lot of typing) and let people know what's going on? As certificates expire daily, the number of users affected will grow. 73, Marty N6VI ----- Original Message ----- From: Kramer, Harold, WJ1B <mailto:wj1b@arrl.org> To: arrl-odv <mailto:arrl-odv@reflector.arrl.org> Cc: Patton, David NN1N <mailto:nn1n@arrl.org> ; Bloom, Jon, KE3Z <mailto:jbloom@arrl.org> Sent: Thursday, October 01, 2009 2:31 PM Subject: [arrl-odv:18136] Logbook of the World Problem FYI, I want to make you aware of a problem with Logbook of the World (LoTW) that we believe started about a week ago. At present, LoTW will not issue new digital certificates, renewal certificates or certificates that have expired. This situation affects fewer than 250 Logbook users and future users who are waiting for their certificates. LoTW continues to process log data and support DXCC and WAS applications. Jon Bloom is working on this problem. Until we have a plan to fix LoTW, we have elected not to release this information "publicly" since it affects less than 1% of all Logbook users. We did want you to know about it if you are asked a question about the situation. We will keep you posted. 73, Harold Harold Kramer, WJ1B Chief Operating Officer ARRL - The national association for Amateur RadioT 225 Main Street Newington, CT 06111 Telephone: 860 594 0220 email: <mailto:hkramer@arrl.org> hkramer@arrl.org web: <http://www.arrl.org/> www.arrl.org/
