[arrl-odv:15928] RE: [arrl-odv:15926] Emergency Notification Drill

Hey Guys....no 'Gentlemen' here on this end...but a YL to be sure! And I do agree with Bill Edgar, on the Drill. We had a successful chain of communications within the Hudson Division. I was available to reach the ENY Section Manager by phone and followed up by email to the others. In the absence of the NNJ Section Manager, and the fact that this was a Weather Drill, I was able to contact our SKYWARN DEC to respond. In NLI, The SEC was contacted in lieu of the SM who was also not available. All performed admirably and the communications proceeded successfully. 73, Joyce KA2ANF ka2anf@arrl.org -----Original Message----- From: Bill Edgar [mailto:n3llr@earthlink.net] Sent: Monday, September 03, 2007 6:11 PM To: arrl-odv Subject: RE: [arrl-odv:15926] Emergency Notification Drill Hi Coy, In the spirit of the test, I sent a copy of Dennis' email to each SM and I personally called each SM to inform them of the test. I reached 6 of 7 SM's and each one liked the idea of the test. The one SM I could not reach was left a voicemail. In fact, one of our SMs got his section ARES leadership involved with the drill. Whether including the directors/vice directors in the test remains to be seen, the idea of a surprise drill isn't a bad one in my opinion. - Bill N3LLR

Gentlemen,
I have too many questions about this. Is this prescribed in any of our directives. Why are the directors being included in a test of the field organization? Do the section managers know this is coming? If not they are going to have a good laugh. As a matter of fact, that may be what I do.
