[arrl-odv:35585] ARRL Historical Committee Virtual Museum - link to temporary website

All, Below is the link to the temporary website of the ARRL Historical Committee’s Virtual Museum Website. As you learned during yesterday’s Board meeting, this will eventually be linked through a web page and “button” on the ARRL website. Clicking on the link below will take you to the front page of the museum. Clicking on any of the large boxes (categories, such as “kits”) on this front page will take you into the pages for that category of artifact (equipment, books, etc). While there are currently 1781 items uploaded to the museum website, remember that this is a living virtual museum that is expanding with additional entries on a weekly basis. The museum will eventually contain entries for equipment, non-equipment historical artifacts, books, audio and video clips of individuals and events significant to the history of amateur radio. https://hub.catalogit.app/8781 Have fun exploring the museum’s content to date. Thank you all for your support of this project. 73, Dave, K2DP Dave Propper, K2DP Member, ARRL Programs and Services Committee Board Liaison, ARRL RF Safety Committee Chair, ARRL Historical Committee ARRL Midwest Division Vice Director 314-225-5167 (mobile) k2dp@arrl.org<mailto:k2dp@arrl.org>

Hi Dave, Thanks for all of the information you’ve shared about the new virtual museum. I’m looking forward to exploring the artifacts and exhibits! I’ll be in touch with Bob Naumann so that we can plan next steps, including a well-coordinated rollout of the new membership benefit. Bob can help follow up with you after we have a summary of ideas/suggestions to share. Who should I follow-up with to replace the ARRL diamond logo that is included in the museum with a brand compliant version? I understand that the museum, in its current presentation, is fully-open to the world. It’s not difficult for skimmers to fully copy the contents of a site like this. I don’t know if the committee has considered this, or if you care at all whether or not the content can be lifted. Most recently, we have been hounded by an organization that wants copies of all ARRL publications to archive on its website… and we have denied the requests — citing our ownership and copyright of the works. Thanks also for the suggestions on naming the museum. We’ll follow-up. 73 Bob NQ1R On Jan 20, 2024, at 9:03 AM, Propper, David, K2DP (VD, MW) <k2dp@arrl.org> wrote: All, Below is the link to the temporary website of the ARRL Historical Committee’s Virtual Museum Website.
