The committee has endorsed the recommendation of the Public Relations Committee to award the 2014 Philip J. McGan Silver Antenna Award to Brian Short, KC0BS, for excellence in telling the Amateur Radio story to the public at large. See July 2014 Board Meeting Document #21. The Executive Committee has authorized a mail vote in accordance with Article 6. It is now in order for the Board to vote on this recommendation. However, so as to not foreclose the possibility of discussion, please withhold your vote until tomorrow (Thursday) in case there are questions. Here is the resolution for Board consideration: "Resolved, that the 2014 Philip J. McGan Silver Antenna Award is hereby awarded to Brian Short, KC0BS, for excellence in telling the Amateur Radio story to the public at large." Thank you. 73, David Sumner, K1ZZ Secretary

For the benefit of Directors not on P&SC, here’s some additional info on the nomination: Link to the interview with Brian Short KC0BS, the nominee: http://kcur.org/post/exploring-ham-radio-digital-world PRC Report: Philip J. McGan Silver Antenna Award 2014 The PRC would like to respectfully nominate Brian Short, KC0BS for the 2014 Philip J. McGan Silver Antenna Award for excellence in telling the Amateur Radio story to the public at large. The following is an excerpt from Brian’s nomination form: “Brian’s work as a PIO in the Kansas City area is well known to me over several years. He has always been one of the most productive people we have in the Midwest for publicity. His many contacts led him to entice NPR station KCUR to do a piece about modern Amateur Radio on their “Up to Date” program. Up to Date focuses on pressing issues, both local and national, including politics, economics, planning and design, history and entertainment - topics that have an impact on the lives of the Greater Kansas City region. The inclusion of modern Amateur Radio is an example of Brian showing that it’s not just “old technology.” Doug K4AC From: arrl-odv [mailto:arrl-odv-bounces@reflector.arrl.org] On Behalf Of Sumner, Dave, K1ZZ Sent: Wednesday, October 15, 2014 8:47 AM To: arrl-odv Subject: [arrl-odv:23436] McGan Award A loose end from the July Programs & Services Committee meeting has been tied up by email vote of the committee.
