[arrl-odv:23773] FW: Document 8 - Report of the Chief Operating Officer

Doug, Here are the answers from Bob Inderbitzen: 1) Correct. By January 9 (I ran this report today), 23.51% of October 2014 expirees had not renewed. Another approach is as follows: * Total membership by yearend = 165,664 * Total acquisition during year = 29,463 * Total members retained (total membership - total acquisition) = 136,201 (82.22%) 2) There are 5 mailed and 3 emailed renewal notices. The first notice is sent by email 3 months before the month of expiration (this early to ensure uninterrupted delivery of QST). The second notice is sent by mail one week after the email notice. The third notice is sent by email three weeks later. The fourth notice is sent by mail three weeks later. The fifth notice is sent by email three weeks later (approximately 3 weeks before the month of expiration). The sixth notice is mailed two weeks later, which is approximately a week before the month of expiration. The remaining 2 mailed notices are sent in the two months following expiration. The 2015 projected cost for all 5 mailed notices (3 before expiration, and 2 after expiration) is $22,193 for printing, and $43,020 for postage. 3) Attached is a spreadsheet recording all membership sources for 2014 acquisition. The codes may be a bit obscure, so I have included two worksheets. The file will open to the first worksheet, which includes a detailed breakdown of the "other sources" for December. The second worksheet includes the sources for all 2014 acquisition. 73, Regards/73, Harold Harold Kramer, WJ1B ARRL Chief Operating Officer 860 594 0220
