[arrl-odv:18788] Re: Trip Report

I have been showing Harold's Inside HQ customized for the Great Lakes Division for about a year now. It's always a hit. Sent from Gary's 3GS iPhone On Mar 29, 2010, at 3:09 PM, gpwidin <gpwidin@comcast.net> wrote:
Kay, In your trip report you said:
I attended Dave K1ZZ’s presentation “Inside ARRL HQ,” which had been developed by Harold Kramer WJ1B.
This kind of presentation has been needed for a long time. It shows members what goes on at HQ and what Staff members look like. Putting human faces with names printed in QST and web pages helps League members envision the Staff as people and hams not so different from themselves. For members who don’t have the opportunity to visit HQ o r walk around the ARRL EXPO at Dayton , this presentation really hel ps.
I've been trying to get something like this for some time. At one point, Katie Breen (Allen) had made up such a presentation, but I guess it needed editing before it could safely be released into the hands of Directors. Anyhow, I agree with your assessment that such a "presentation really helps." I know I felt I gained a much deeper appreciation of what the League does for its members after I had my first visit to Newington.
So, I hope that this presentation can be shared for ODV to use when we are asked to speak at hamfests or club meetings. We might even convince a few fence-sitters to become members! -- 73, Greg, KØGW Director, Dakota Division
