[arrl-odv:29104] AMS/Personify progress update

Dear Officers, Directors and Vice Directors, The AMS conversion project is being implemented using an agile software development methodology. In this methodology, work is divided into "sprints." In our case, sprints are three week efforts. We have just added in an additional sprint resulting in a three-week delay (one sprint) as tracked on our internal metrics. The delay is due to both Personify (the vendor) and ARRL. Personify has run into delays related to our requested enhancements and ARRL has been having trouble with the test conversions. Both organizations are working diligently to get caught up during this three-week additional window. While this delay is unfortunate, it was not unexpected. We have built in two such possible delays, and additional slack for anticipated problems as we come on-line, into an "honest" schedule. Therefore, the impact of this extra sprint is negligible. As a reminder, as discussed in my reports to the Board, EC and A&F, we have four tightly connected projects that we are managing (in order of risk): 1) AMS replacement, 2) lifelong learning (LLL) course content, 3) Mintz+Hoke, and 4) a new learning management system (LMS) integration. While the risks are manageable, and they are being managed, because of the complexity of the project, and its broad reach into all ARRL business functions, the AMS/Personify conversion remains my number one concern. 73, Howard, WB2ITX -- Howard E.
