Our stock of materials for the Life Member plaques is just about exhausted. The current vendor has not been reliable lately, and Deb Jahnke and Bob Inderbitzen took this opportunity to investigate options. Attached is a JPEG photo file showing a sample of a new design for the Life Member plaque. It measures 9 x 12 inches and is encased in hard plastic. The text and line art of the plaque is done in silver. The name and call sign engraving is done from the back, and is translucent. This design is much more durable than the current wooden plaque with ceramic insert.
The unit cost is similar to the current plaques. We will be able to we'll offer these for sale as replacements (for example, for someone who has a new call sign under the vanity program or just likes the new design) for around $50 postpaid.
The new vendor is Barker Specialties. Barker is very familiar with our needs and they have done a great job for us with the ARRL sportswear line, pins, mugs, DXCC Challenge plaques and other specialty items. And yes, they can do slashed zeroes. We hope you like the new design. 73, Mark K1RO
