[arrl-odv:20130] "Final" Final Minutes...

I apologize for this second message, however, Mr. Sumner pointed out to me that I had an incorrect order of events in the last agenda item and we didn't want to leave the wrong impression. 73, Barry J. Shelley, N1VXY Chief Financial Officer ARRL, Inc-The National Association for Amateur Radio(tm) 225 Main St. Newington, CT 06111 Phone: (860) 594-0212

Barry, Inasmuch as there was no agenda attached to the minutes, I will assume that minute number 15 is reporting on "the last agenda item." If that is the case, I believe that I understand the incorrect order of events. However, I do not understand the change from the original minutes "At this point the staff, with the exception of Mr. Sumner, was excused from the meeting." to the amended text "At this point the staff was excused from the meeting." Should you have said that you were correcting an incorrect order of events in addition to amending the delineation of those who were excused from the meeting to include Mr. Sumner? Bob, minute number 15. Succession Planning was the last agenda item. The "Final" Final minutes in ODV:20130 correctly reflect not only the order of events, but that all staff, including Mr. Sumner, were excused from the meeting prior to the discussion concerning succession planning. I apologize for not catching this prior to distribution to ODV. Please let me know if you have any other questions concerning the minutes. Thanks. Colleagues, I have been serving as Vice Director of the Great Lakes Division and Director for over a decade, and it has been an honor indeed to represent amateur radio with you at the national level. However as many of you know, this past month my 20 year old granddaughter passed away from type 1 diabetes complications, and it has caused a reevaluation of my priorities on a profound scale. Though amateur radio continues to be one of the loves and priorities of my life, in the short term I think it best if I lay out for at least one term in the capacity of division leadership. I do this with regret, yet with anticipation of spending more time with my two grandsons and another grandchild on the way soon. Thank you all for your past support and continuing friendships. Being part of the board family has been and continues to be a valuable and greatly appreciated part of my life. And I want each of you to know you are welcome at the Johnston abode anytime you pass through Cincinnati and/or CVG airport (I¹m only 10 minutes from CVG). Good luck to each of you in your continuing quest to save and improve amateur radio, and perhaps I¹ll be back some time in the future maybe as Director. :-) Sincerely, Gary Gary L. Johnston, KI4LA Vice Director ARRL Great Lakes Division
