[arrl-odv:26012] W2RU - Bud Hippisley's Resignation

To All, I announced this at the PSC teleconference on November 17th, but now that I re-reviewed the minutes which I circulated to the board, I see that this information was not included. President Rick brought this to my attention. My apologies for the omission. After the removal of the NTS Eastern Area Chair earlier this year, Bud W2RU was appointed by Rick to that position. I warned Bud that it was going to be a "rough ride", and it certainly proved itself to be so. Bud did everything he could do to keep the ARRL in the NTS structure within the Eastern Area. He did so admirably, with only the third region falling to RRI. However, we were unable to find leadership in the Central and Pacific Areas, so they fell quickly. Bud has come under criticism by some NTS individuals due to his appointment through the ARRL, which has to have been difficult for him. I know he was always looked up to by NTS participants as a leader, or perhaps even a hero. Now, after his appointment, there were some who described him as a Quisling. After Bud had an e-mail exchange with Mike Corey, I suppose he reached his last straw. He sent me his resignation below, to be effective concurrent with the PSC teleconference on November 17th. Bud is not asking for a public statement of his resignation. He is asking that his name be removed from the ARRL.org NTS page as Eastern Area Staff Chair, as he continues to get e-mails. Bud continues to be a strong ARRL supporter nonetheless. As we discussed way back at the beginning, this was always meant to be a "temporary" appointment. Given recent events and ever-evolving personal circumstances and family commitments, I believe the time has come to tender my resignation. It seems to me appropriate to make it effective as of the close of Thursday's P&SC meeting. 73 - Bud, W2RU=
