Sales and Marketing Reported by Bob Inderbitzen, NQ1R Diane Petrilli reports that July ended with 158,815 members-194 fewer members than June. This is a much smaller loss than we usually experience in the deep summer when we conduct fewer mailings. 73% of July 2012 expirees paid on time (vs. 73% last July). We continue to be well ahead of the year-to-date forecast; 1,294 members above goal. A series of targeted e-mails to Technicians, Generals, non-ham prospects, VEs and other groups brought in 232 members. Jackie Ferreira reports that July product sales were $249,061, exceeding the month's sales forecast of $224,109. Direct sales were $132,279; dealer sales were $116,782. This is the highest sales figure reported for the month of July, according to records dating back to 2000. Sales of licensing materials for upgrading are very good, attributed to the new edition of The ARRL Extra Class License Manual and mailings to Technician and General Class members encouraging upgrading. "Happy Birthday" postcards contributed sales of over $14.7k this month. Amy Hurtado reports that Member Service Representatives processed 3,702 orders in July (2,324 in July 2011). Steve Capodicasa reports that, during the week, the warehouse crew fulfilled 1,118 packages for publication and product orders, 505 membership signing premiums, plus QST mailing supplements. We are pleased with the unusually high amount of activity this summer-regularly exceeding 1,000 packages per week. The new phone reporting software, installed in July, is already providing us with some interesting reporting. During the week (7/30-8/3), the Sales and Marketing Department telephone group handled 886 phone calls-over 23 calls per hour. On average, callers waited less than 1 minute to speak with a representative. 83% of the calls were completed by the group (not requiring a transfer). We continue to work with the IT group as progress is made on the new order processing and fulfillment project. A meeting was held during the week to discuss a process for managing backorders. Membership & Volunteer Programs Reported by Dave Patton, NN1N Field Organization/Public Service Team One Amateur in Arizona and one in South Texas completed certification to become Official Observers this week. Updates were received from OOs regarding reported interference on 7251. The Ohio OOC forwarded a good response back from an advisory sent. The identification of a signal reported on 14340 was determined by the IARU Region 2 Monitoring Coordinator as being a Russian military AT3004D system. Chuck conducted two 9 AM code practice runs at W1AW.
