[ARRL-ODV:10807] Re: VEC meeting

It occurs to me this morning, after a number of us have chimed in with our views about what Bart does or doesn't do at NCVEC meetings and what Bart should or shouldn't do there, that the key person who hasn't been heard from is Bart himself. Wouldn't he be the best one to explain to the Board what his role is at NCVEC meetings, what his present marching orders are vis-a-vis voting, and whether or not he believes a change would be in the best interests of the League? I think we -- myself included even though I have been to numerous NCVEC meetings as an observer -- are discussing a subject in the absence of sufficient information. Our Board meeting is one week before the 2004 NCVEC meeting. Doesn't that give us an opportunity to hear from Bart in person, ask him questions, and reach a conclusion on the basis of what we learn from the discussion? Before we make a change in how things have been done for the past 20 years, we should take the time to discuss this with Bart. If it's true that the Board as a whole doesn't know much about NCVEC and/or ARRL/VEC's role in that group, isn't it time we filled in the blanks? And who better to do it for us than Bart? Thursday evening? 73 - Kay N3KN
