[arrl-odv:20600] VE6NM - SK

I am sad to have to inform you that Earle Smith VE6NM, past president of the Radio Amateurs of Canada, became a Silent Key this morning, surrounded by his family. Earle had cancer for some time, but his unencouraging prognosis never diminished his brave and cheerful attitude. I will miss him. 73 - Kay N3KN

This is very sad news. Earle had quite a sparkling personality and I always enjoyed spending time with him when he came to the ARRL Board Meetings. He became such a good friend. May he rest in peace.... 73, Joyce KA2ANF -----Original Message----- From: arrl-odv-bounces@reflector.arrl.org [mailto:arrl-odv-bounces@reflector.arrl.org]On Behalf Of Kay Craigie Sent: Friday, February 24, 2012 5:38 PM To: 'arrl-odv' Subject: [arrl-odv:20600] VE6NM - SK I am sad to have to inform you that Earle Smith VE6NM, past president of the Radio Amateurs of Canada, became a Silent Key this morning, surrounded by his family. I am so sorry to hear the sad news about Earle. He was a kind and caring man, and his upbeat attitude during his courageous battle against cancer was an inspiration to his many friends. We shared a mutual love for the writings of Mark Twain, and I enjoyed visiting with him about our favorite subject at Board meetings and by email after he retired. He will be greatly missed. 73, Cliff K0CA -----Original Message----- From: arrl-odv-bounces@reflector.arrl.org [mailto:arrl-odv-bounces@reflector.arrl.org] On Behalf Of Kay Craigie Sent: Friday, February 24, 2012 4:38 PM To: 'arrl-odv' Subject: [arrl-odv:20600] VE6NM - SK I am sad to have to inform you that Earle Smith VE6NM, past president of the Radio Amateurs of Canada, became a Silent Key this morning, surrounded by his family. This is so unfortunate. I always enjoyed having chats on the side with Earl during breaks, meals, and such. A consummate gentleman and a selfless asset to amateur radio not only in Canada, but beyond. I like all of us will miss him greatly. 73, Brian N5ZGT On Fri, 24 Feb 2012 17:37:30 -0500, Kay Craigie wrote:

If you want to send your respects and condolences to Earle's family, using his QRZ.com postal address will be fine according to his daughter. 73 - Kay N3KN
